Best sushi in the 916. A lot come close but in my opinion it's going to be near impossible to knock off Mikuni's. I really only want sushi if it's here.

Their owner, Taro, is a huge Sacramento Kings fan and has close relationships with players. He's even curated two rolls for two separate stars; Demarcus Cousins and De'Aaron Fox. Both of which are spectacular rolls and personal favorites.

Great spot to grab a lunch date but also makes for a great dinner come date night with your significant other.

Quality at every level here. The servers are super nice and knowledgeable. The wait time doesn't matter when the food comes, not that it's ever that long!

A recent discovery on the menu here was the Benjamin roll. It has such a nice spicy kick to it that it feels like a Mexican fusion roll.

The puff daddy is also a must try appetizer along with their crispy gyoza.

I've never had a bad meal here and if you make it I doubt you will too :)

Expensive and just okay.

My husband and I ordered 1 roll each and shared 1 together. So in total 3 rolls and our order ended up over 70$??? I was hoping the rolls were going to blow my mind or at least be in large quantity but they sadly didn't/weren't. In fact. One of our rolls had like 6 pieces??? I was excited for the rolls as this place has great reviews but I feel like I was misled.

We ordered on the phone and they had a designated area near the restaurant where you can park for take-out orders. I did appreciate this aspect since it's located near down town and parking can be tricky.

I did not go inside so I can't say much about the ambiance. But overall with what I've experience, I would only vote for 3 stars considering the quality of food/price and the parking.

IMO, I would rather go elsewhere for a cheaper price and probably where you can get the same quality of sushi.

I CANNOT get enough of Mikuni's at any location. They never waiver from quality and freshness. My go to is a bento box with sesame chicken and blanched asparagus with spicy zigzag sauce. Their spicy edamame is always delicious and so are the California rolls. You do not have to be a sushi lover to love this place.

PS: Steve W, I just read your review about the chopstick fiasco. I use chopsticks but sometimes like a fork to get all those little grains of rice. I have never had a problem getting a fork. Just saying.....

Mikuni always hits the spot. Food, service, and ambiance is always great. My favorites are the DMC roll, tuna sliders 2, and the soft shell crab hand-roll.

Mikuni's is consistently one of my top picks for both lunch and dinner. It's an ideal meeting spot for catching up with coworkers and friends. The ambiance is lively adding to the fun atmosphere. The customer service was great as well. Although I'm not particularly fond of sushi, their Sesame Chicken plate is my go-to, and it always leaves me with leftovers to enjoy later. Don't miss out on their Key Lime Motto, it's a drink worth trying!

Great selection of sushi rolls, drinks, and apps. My go to order is the sea steak, which has fresh sashimi over a bed of radish and soy sauce. The sashimi has a nice texture, not fishy, and goes well with the garnish.

I'd recommend ordering the dinner for 2, which includes an app, main, two rolls, and a dessert! The freaky edamame is tasty and has a spicy seasoning. If you're into shrimp, the puff daddy is a good blend of crispy deep fried shrimp and crab mix with mayo.

Mikuni Japanese Restaurant: Missed Opportunity

My recent visit to Mikuni Japanese Restaurant was unfortunately marred by unforeseen circumstances, leaving me unable to enjoy the meal I had eagerly anticipated. Shortly after being seated and placing my order, the restaurant experienced a water leak, resulting in an unexpected evacuation.

Despite understanding that such incidents can occur, I was disappointed by the lack of communication from the staff regarding the situation. I received my check without any explanation as I was going to order more items, only to later learn about the water leak incident.

Regrettably, I didn't even have the chance to taste my meal as I was hurried out of the restaurant with a box. Despite this, I paid $45 for a boxed take-out meal. Unfortunately, no part of the meal was comped, which left me feeling dissatisfied with the overall experience.

While I appreciate that unforeseen events can disrupt plans, I hope Mikuni Japanese Restaurant can improve their communication and customer service in such situations in the future.

Mikuni!!! my gf just took me here for my birthday lunch! We sat at the bar. We were really the only people at the bar for most of the meal.

We started with the freaky edamame. Can I just say this stuff is amazing. It's so addicting. However they season it it's so flavorful.

I ordered a cup of miso soup and the midtown roll. My gf got the black and white fish thingy and a roll and a vegan side.

I tried the black and white fish and wow! I was blown away. Never had anything like that before! So good. It literally melted in your mouth.

The service was good. We both got drinks. An aperol spritz and a yuzu margarita. 10/10. I love that Mikuni is in walking distance of me and it's always great!
