Yummy’s 5-star review:
I was craving for Tajine pot last night.
There are only two places that you can eat Japanese style Tajine pot in South Bay area. One is in Torrance called, Tamatebako restaurant, and other one is in Lomita called, Oumi Sasaya restaurant.
For Tamatebako, if you want to eat the Tajine pot, you need to make a reservation and ordering ahead at least 2-3 days in advance. Because they need to order fresh organic fastidious ingredients from farms. You can choose from fish, pork, and beef Tajine pots.
Both Tamatebako and Oumi Sasaya don't have Tajine pot during lunch time.
The Morrocan Tajine is original dish, but Japanese people arranged to the Japanese style recently like 4-6 years ago. Oumi Sasaya exported Japanese style Tajine ceramic pots from Japan. Japanese one has an extra plate inside of the pot. The extra plate to allow for the drippings, so that waste fat/oil from meat will go underneath of the plate.
On the Oumi Sasaya's menu, "Tajine pot is good for two person" but it's not enough for me, so I always order one pot for myself.(I am not 7 feet tall 500 pounds fat person who can eat like a cow. I am average eater.) and you want to order this before 9 pm. Takes about 20-30 mins to cook.

They have only one kind of Tajine pot in Oumi Sasaya but very yummy and healthy! They cook with beef, lettuce, shiitake mushroom, zucchini, Asian yellow pumpkin, bell pepper, and so on.
I always order their Tajine pot with ponzu sauce and Onsen tamago(hot spring egg) as an appetizer.
The restaurant known for Udon but you have to try the Tajine pot!
I don't know Sasaya uses Tajine pot correctly, but if you want to make a Tajine pot at home, before start cooking you need to wash and soak the pot into the drinkable water for 6-8 hours so the water will absorb into the ceramic.
Good thing about Japanese Tajine pot is they don't use any water or oil when it cook. It's steamed vegetable and meat with water from the vegetable and the ceramic pot.
I purchased the Japanese Tajine pot from Marukai market (Artesia and western st).I can guarantee that if you continues to eat Tajine pot, you can lose weight!
But Oumi Sasaya's pot taste much better than my home made pot...
Always packed of people, so make a reservation even though for weekday.
