Office Max Perks is a Scam. Purchased a printer for $300 at Office Max and clerk signed me up for Office Max Perks.

Received the plastic card with bar code and was told I had received a $50 reward for in-store credit. Went back after a few months to purchase new ink cartridges with my Perks card and was told I would have to log in. The store doesn't keep track of the "Rewards". Went back home and logged saw my original purchase and the $50 "Reward".

Printed it out and went back to the store. Said they couldn't honor it, because I waited too long and didn't really have any "Rewards". Told the clerk I didn't (and still don't) see any expiration date. Gave me an 866 number to call.

What a bunch of baloney.

Logged on to Amazon.com and found the ink cartridges for 40% less than Office Max. Do your self a favor and shop online.

Location: Sacramento, California

I took several ink cartridges back and I was told that they had been enter under my card number; went home to try and pull up

my card information and was told that my card did not match and to call the 1-800 number. No one answered the phone; I was never able to redeem my 9 cartridges @ 2.00 a piece. I will just toss them in the garbage because the reward card is garbage.

Tried to consolidate my MAX PERKS and OFFICE DEPOT rewards cards as i was asked to do when I made a purchase last night. IMPOSSIBLE.

Today I called the 800 # waited forever. Finally a lady came on and said she would "log me in" I don't want to log in. From now on I will find somewhere else to purchase my office supplies.

When I get angry my voice escalates so the lady on the phone hung up! They can keep their rewards.

What's a PUCLIC is that a new liberal word that no one understands

i lost $50 rewards that way too. it's unbelievable that you have to go online, print it out and then use it.

it also has a short exp date. will never shop there again.

i went to office max to buy ink for printer and was told i would receive $2.00 credit for every ink cartridge i return. So next day i bought in 9 cartriges that I had and they didn't give me any credit a penny for each cartridge and was told I had to log in for alledged credit.

What a bunch of bull at least in K Mart u have a card and the register gives you the credit right then and there when you go in to purchase any item. I agree Office Max is a Scam and Best Buy sells the ink for less.

Hilarious posts by people that can neither read nor comprehend a simple program. No wonder why people say America's puclic schools are failing. :sigh

By using MaxPerks last year, here's the list of things I got free with either 100% back or reward/ink money; i5 computer, Canon SX150 camera, 8 $100 backpacks, 4 Western Digital 1TB portable hard drives, cordeless phone with 5 handsets, Logitech computer speakers, 160 Sharpies, 4 reams of paper, 48 Inkjoy pens, 64 Expo markers, dry erase board, 10" digital picture frame, Logitech keyboard and mouse, and on and on...TONS of free money. :)

Did I have to spend a couple of bucks to get those things? Sure. I bought some hard drives on sale and made some extra profit on eBay. Sold off the free backpacks. Even more money for me. How did I achieve all this? Easy. I read the terms. Was 10 minutes of my time worth $3,800 in free stuff? You bet. 8)

people that can't figure out the MaxPerks program shouldn't be allowed out in public. my 12 yr old DAUGHTER manages my reward card and I've received over 100$ worth of FREE STUFF from them over the past year just by knowing how to use my printer and read the reward card before it expires. it's free money; why are you complaining?????

It's not a bad program, but like most American corporations compared to previous decades, OfficeMax has decided to make the customer jump through hoops to redeem the rewards. I prefer to think it isn't by design -- charging customers the top dollar upfront by luring them with ultimate savings that they have to make multiple efforts to redeem.

Let's just say they haven't made the customer experience an easy and convenient one, which really, doesn't set them apart from most of corporate nation.

Bottom line -- you want to use the MaxPerks system, you have to do it their way. And "their way" was set up for the greatest convenience to the corporation.

I work at OfficeMax, and I understand that are some flaws in the program, and that if a few things changed it would make the process easier for the customer. But with that being said, all that's asked of you is to log in to our website after you get a card in-store.

It really is that simple. Enter a little information about yourself and you can earn rewards instantly. I wish I could even SAY how often we get rude customers in, going on and on about how they hate maxperks. It's basically free money, and you will need to put a LITTLE effort into.

By Buying smart and checking your rewards often, you can easily take advantage of what is at hand. I have seen people earn $200 dollars in a month!

And even if you don't spend alot there, you will still receive coupons via email or snail mail, for FREE. Sounds okay to me.

bailey, you should include the time restraints or expiration date on the rewards coupons AND you have to wait until the end of each quarter for Office Max to process the certificates. Merging the two reward cards is a chore.

We've spent hundreds of dollars at Office Max but the timing of the recycling of the cartridges were not in sync with the spending, so there are flaws to receiving the recycling rewards.

The program has worked for me! I have received hundreds of dollars in rewards by just being smart. ;)

I am a teacher and use the teacher MaxPerks rewards program consistently every single year. I have had absolutely NO problems.

My store has even allowed me to use expired rewards. If you know the rules and follow them, this can be a GREAT program.

Guest

I have vowed never to step foot into an Office Max store EVER AGAIN!! Nor will I order online from them.

I've had nothing but trouble with their Max Perks scam and ended up losing a ton of money because I was unaware that my Perks had expired. I now see that there are soooooo many very angry former customers. You'd think they would learn! I've heard that Office Max will SOON BE FILING FOR BANKRUPCY.

I won't be sad. They brought it upon themselves!

Same th ing happened to me...12 print cartridges returned and no refund. I have now $20 credit but have to buy $20 of somproduvt in the store THEN I get to go through office perks. I have

to buy something to get a refund...this is dishonest. They have lost another customer.

They took the cartridges which were MINE, and

refuse to pay me for their return. BBB here I come.

And what would you have done with those empty ink cartridges anyway? Frame them and put them over your printer?

First off, the rewards program is very easy to use. I signed up about 5 months ago for it and have been REWARDED $150 from it already.

People don't read the TERMS AND CONDITIONS they just accept right away. If you people were a little less in a hurry to go home and take a few seconds to read, it really wouldn't be that hard for you. You don't have to be tech savy to understand it. My 89 year old Grandma figured it out.

I think you'll do just fine. Another thing, its FREE money. You are not getting ripped off.

When you print out your page it specifically says an expiration date.

Guest

I feel sorry for you people. Sorry that you can't figure out this rewards system.

First off, how can OfficeMax be "scamming" you with a FREE rewards program? It is very easy actually. Allow me to explain: YOU buy from OfficeMax then YOU log in to your account and YOU print off your rewards. Then YOU take it back in the store and get FREE money back for spending.

How is that a scam?? Just because you are lazy and don't want to do some work doesn't mean OfficeMax is scamming you.

Guest

same experience . by 45 dollar box of paper and supposedly get 42 max rewards.

Takes an hour to sign up .

No rewards but they have way to much information on me.this is the third time I fell for their scams, shame on me. For years I figured the register price is the final price no matter what rebate they promised, and was satisfied shopping there because it was real close to home.
